PGL are very well-known tournament organizer in Dota 2 and CS space. After producing and organizing The International 2023, they’ve got to produce one of the biggest Dota 2 tournaments in this season, PGL Wallachia. After ESL Birmingham, all the world’s top teams are moving to Romania for another million $ Dota 2 tournament.
PGL will host a brand new Dota 2 series, starting with PGL Wallachia. The tournament series will run all the way until 2026. Considering Dota 2 season is very packed now with a new system that leads towards The International, it will be interesting to see if teams will start skipping those tournaments that are not generating any ranking points towards big leagues like ESL Pro Tour or similar. Let’s see some key points of the tournaments and highlight the best teams that can go far in the competition.
PGL Wallachia – Event Info:

Teams participating in PGL Wallachia Season 1 won’t receive any extra ranking points like ESL gives for their tournament circuit. The first team will win just $300,000 and glory that they will use in their favor for the rest of the season, fighting for The International 2024.
Top Favorites:
This will be a slightly different format regarding the group stage. 16 teams are fighting for just 8 positions in the playoffs. The other 8 teams that will end up at the bottom of the group stage rankings, will be eliminated from the tournament. Let’s see which are the top 3 favorites and which teams could possibly join them in the playoffs.
- Team Falcons
Outright tournament odds: 2.80
2024 is their year, for sure. After 3 titles already in just 4 calendar months, the Falcons are looking unstoppable this year. Nobody managed to crack their gameplay so far, and they are just outsmarting their opponents. Seems like the Falcons found the perfect Dota 2 lineup for this year to go all the way. By far, the biggest tournament for this title too, after the ESL Birmingham 2 weeks ago.
- Xtreme Gaming
Outright tournament odds: 4.80
According to outright odds, Xtreme Gaming are top 2 favorite, but I would say they are not too stable. Yes, their lineup on paper is scary. Yes, they have won 2 tournaments this year already, but they have failed hard at the last big tournament, ESL One Birmingham. Finishing in 7th-8th place, and losing to G2.IG showed all their weaknesses. But, they are surely the team that can go all the way, even beat the favorites, if everything aligns for them.
- BetBoom Team
Outright tournament odds: 6.00
Definitely, BetBoom is one scary team. The best CIS team, together with Team Spirit at the moment. Seems like their form is growing and improving as the season is coming to a peak. With 4th place at ESL One Kuala Lumpur, and 3rd place at BetBoom Dacha Dubai, their run continued with 2nd places at DreamLeague Season 22 and ESL One Birmingham. In both of their last 2 tournaments, they were crushed by Falcons with 0-3. Let’s see if they learned something from it.
Other 5 teams that we believe will qualify for the playoffs: Team Liquid, Team Spirit, Gaimin Gladiators, Azure Ray, G2.IG
